Sale and leaseback
Own your gear outright? Turn it into cash and keep working.
You've paid off the excavator, the truck or the workshop machinery. It's worth good money and your cash flow is tight. A sale and leaseback releases that cash, and you keep using the equipment.

How it works
You sell equipment you own outright to a lender. They lease it straight back to you for a set term. You get a lump sum now and make repayments over time.
People use the cash to pay out an ATO debt, cover a cash flow gap, fund a job or grow. At the end of the lease, your options depend on the lender. That can include buying the equipment back, extending the lease or handing it back.
A sale and leaseback is one way to do a capital raise. If there's still finance on your gear, or you have a whole fleet, that page covers the other routes.

How it works
Three steps.
Tell us what you own
Send a list and a few photos. We tell you if it looks workable.
We find a lender
The lender values your equipment and puts terms on the table. We go through them with you.
You get the cash
Sign, settle and get on with the job. You keep working with the equipment.
Who it suits
- You own the equipment outright, with no finance or security over it.
- The equipment has real resale value, and a lender will value it.
- You need cash now and can afford the lease repayments.
- It's secured on the equipment. Lenders may still ask directors for a guarantee.
When it's not the answer
- You still owe money on the equipment. That's a refinance instead, so see our capital raise page or ask us.
- You can't afford the repayments. A leaseback swaps a lump sum today for repayments tomorrow.
What to bring
- A list of the equipment: make, model, year, serial number or VIN
- Proof you own it: invoices, registration or title
- Photos, and hours or kilometres if you have them
- Your last two years' financials or BAS
- ID for the directors
You don't own it during the lease.
Total repayments will be more than the sale price. Get the end-of-lease options in writing before you sign.
Check the tax and accounting treatment.
Your accountant should look at how a sale and leaseback fits your books and tax.
Questions people ask
What can I sell and lease back?
Trucks, trailers, excavators and other plant, machinery, CNC and workshop gear, and some vehicles. Each lender decides what it will take.
How much cash can I get?
Lenders value your equipment and offer an amount based on that value. We'll tell you what looks realistic once we see the gear.
Do I keep using the equipment?
That's the idea. You keep using it day to day while it's on lease, subject to the lease terms.
Can I use the cash to pay the ATO?
Often, yes. It's a common use, though it depends on the lender and your situation. See ATO debt restructure.
